TASTING NOTES

Harbord Wines 2012 'The Tendril' Shiraz - Barossa Valley

2012 VINTAGE

After a very difficult 2011 Vintage with the annoying rains during ripening and harvest, it was a relief for all Barossa winemakers to have a relatively normal 2012 Vintage.

Average rainfall during bud-burst and flowering, together with ideal cool to moderate temperatures right through to harvest produced excellent quality Shiraz grapes.

WINEMAKING

The Shiraz berries were crushed and fermented in small static vats for 8 days and then left to macerate on skins for a further 4 days. Twice daily pump-overs allowed us to effectively control the positive tannin extraction and develop such rich colours and flavours.

WINEMAKER'S TASTING NOTES

The 2012 Harbord Barossa Tendril Shiraz is deep red in colour together with attractive purple hues.

Loads of chocolate with wonderful aromas of crushed berries with a hint of dried spices. Full bodied with ripe blackcurrants and subtle licorice. Lovely silky tannins on the finish.

A very Shiraz fruit driven wine on nose and palate. Ideal cellaring for 5 years, yet still can be appreciated now.
